integration testing where no incremental testing takes place prior to all the system's components being combined to form the system. Very much a part of the waterfall methodology. A large risk is being taken that everything will slot together perfectly. The complete opposite is true of the iterative approach which seeks to successively build the system, test it and consequently reduce the risk.
